These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Okiro app for iPhone and Apple Watch (“the App”). By downloading or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. The service
Okiro is a self-improvement tracker with a role-playing-game layer: daily quests, six stats, levels, ranks, workout and skill logging, habit tracking, and related features on iPhone and Apple Watch. The stats, ranks, and rewards are a motivational fiction. They are computed from your own entries and have no monetary or real-world value.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms and Apple's Media Services Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except where the law permits it despite this restriction.
3. Free tier and Monarch Pass
The App's core features are free. Creating more than three custom quests, and future premium features, require the Monarch Pass, an auto-renewing subscription:
- Monthly: USD $6.99 per month
- Yearly: USD $49.99 per year
New subscribers receive a one-week free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase (or at the end of the trial). The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; the renewal is charged within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings at any time. Cancelling stops future charges but does not refund the current period. Prices may vary by region and may change; Apple will notify you and, where required, seek your consent before a price change applies.
4. Refunds
Purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled exclusively by Apple under their terms. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
5. Not medical, fitness, or financial advice
The App's quests, stats, workout library, water goals, step goals, and habit penalties are for motivation and self-tracking only. They are not medical, health, fitness, dietary, or mental health advice. Consult a qualified professional before starting an exercise program, and stop exercising if you feel pain or discomfort. You use the workout features at your own risk. Likewise, income logging and the Wealth stat are informational only and are not financial advice.
6. Your data and your responsibilities
Everything you enter remains yours. Your data is stored on your device and synced to your private iCloud as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for keeping your device and iCloud account in working order; deleting the App and its iCloud data erases your progress, and the in-app “Delete Everything” action is irreversible. You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes.
7. Intellectual property
The App, including its design, artwork, text, code, and the Okiro name and logo, is our property and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you no rights in it other than the license in Section 2.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided “as is”and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of step-count or other calculated data, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim arose.
10. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may terminate or suspend the license if you breach these Terms. Sections 5, 7, 8, 9, and 12 survive termination.
11. Apple
These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App and is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes are subject to the courts of that province, except where the consumer-protection law of your place of residence grants you rights that cannot be waived.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the App evolves. The effective date above reflects the latest revision; material changes will be noted in the App's release notes. Continuing to use the App after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
